St Joe Scallops...
I have not tried StMarks- but everyone I know who has found four or five a trip.
So my wife and I hooked up the little boat and headed to St Joe Bay.
No way to sugar coat this- we were really disappointed. There is a new grass growing in the bay- one guy called it curly grass. He said it made the scallops harder to find but It made it almost impossible. It is everywhere and is all down in the turtle grass. I did snorkel up on one big flounder laying on top of the curly grass. I almost caught him with my hands but he slipped away.
We tried five or six different spots over four hours. Stopped near blacks island with the crowds to over near eagle harbor and Pig Island
Jessi and I picked up maybe a gallon- not enough to make it worth the drive.
And to sound like a complete complainer- they are SMALL. I found one "full size" scallop like we were finding at StMarks a couple of years ago.
Bummer.
We did get enough to throw into some pasta with some shrimp and Alfredo sauce.

Re: St Joe Scallops...
bman, need to go to Keaton!
My family picked up the limit Saturday. Easy to find and seems like everyone was filling the limit. Size about average.

Keaton is the place this year Barry. Give me a shout if you're not familiar with the area.

Yeah, put in at Keaton. I scalloped both Big Grassy Island and in Front of Dekle Beach this weekend. Easy limit at both places, but they seem to be thicker and bigger in front of Dekle.

You need one of these for good luck.

The reports I have heard have also said Keaton, and steinhatchee.
We only got a few at lanark 20 or so last weekend.
