Left 'em biting at St Marks!
Launched from L.H. around 1 pm - headed east past Grey Mare. Fished the areas that recently have produced nice fish - nada! Fished the coast back towards L.H. caught very little of anything. Maybe three fish in the cooler - nothing special. Decided to try an old spot on west flats before calling it a day and Bam - the bite was on. Had a great time - the fish were hitting anything you threw at them. Ended up with 15 trout, 7 macks, 1 blue, 1 shark (with a bad attitude). Lost or let go lots of others. It was really amazing and when we left it was just like it was when we arrived - the bite never stopped - man I hated to quit - but maybe we will hook up again another trip. It was a day to remember for awhile in the old fish re-counting tales.

OD, look on your chart about 2 miles east of the mouth of the river. Some of the rocks show up on the chart. That area is referred to as the rock garden. On a low tide some of the rocks are above the surface. On a high tide you can't see them. Pa knows about where they are. I would suggest idle speed in that area. You're pretty safe to run in most any other area.
What was I supposed to do today?
Thanks John, as you know we don't have rocks over our way (an oyster reef or two
, but no rocks). I've been a little reluctant to fish over that way fearin' a foot problem, so I'll check the charts like you said, and if I can link up with Almar I'm sure he'll stear me right. He could probably get around that area with a blindfold on, you too.

Hey Don, I just checked the updated marine forecast and looks like Thurs. is out, 15-20 in bays and inlets, choppy to rough. Fri . looks a lot better with 10-15 with mod. chop. in bays and inlets. Let me know if you can make it Fri. and we can set up meeting time.

Glad you got into the trouts, it can be frustratin at time trying to find where the trout are , generally if ya keep tryin you can fine them. Did you fish out by the stakes on the west flats or in closer to shore, what baits did you use, thanks in advance for this info.

PA,
I was fishing along the channel edge - would start drift in 4' and end in 8' nearer the channel (this was at high tide). Baits didn't matter. We all fished with various baits the whole bite. Catch 2000's, SWA, Sure Ketch shrimp, glo DOA, live pin fish on CT behind boat. Quit using Catch 2000's when a large lady fish left with my friend's brand new one - decided to stick with the cheaper baits since we had quite a few break offs and the fish didn't care.
There's an oyster bar on the left after you're in the channel upon leaving l.h. heading out. It's near a marker and you can see it usually (would give coordinates if I had them!). Anyway if you run straight out from it about 300 yds, paralleling the channel and either get on a drift that takes you back toward that bar or on an angle from flats to channel it's always been a place to reliably produce something.
Guess I've said more than you wanted to hear - I guess a picture really is worth a hundred words! Don't know how to do pics tho!!!
Have a good trip and give those fish heck - they are still one up on me!!!

Thanks for the reply on location and baits. I know exactly where you were. If it is slow over around the rock garden we will come back there or maybe go there first. Thanks again, pray for good weather for us Fri.
