Got out there at daybreak. Felt more like a duck hunt than fishin! We ran to our spot without another boat in sight.
Within 10 minutes of casting, I hook up on a flounder. Into the box. Within another couple of casts, nice red 25.5" and just a tad over 5 pounds, a real chunky fighter. Then fished for another 3 hours with only a flounder to show in the boat. We did hook a couple more reds, one spit the hook and one cut off on a bar. I lost another flounder at the boat and the trout had the dropsies. We were not tryin to net them, as we had enough in the freezer, but not sure we could have got them if we wanted to, they kept spitting it right at the boat. A fun day on the water and I did not hit a single rock. Whohooo! The redfish made me 2 nice sammiches tonight and was willing to donate a couple more real soon.
We were getting ready to leave (thank goodness) and we spy a boat coming right at us on the horizon. We were in a prior trout hotspot for us (but had no joy and were tired and hungry anyways) but I reckon someone else knew about it. It turns out to be a feller on a jetski and the dude idles down and starts a drift dead downwind at about 100 yards from us. Good thing we were leavin but it is shore an awful big pond to do that.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Hate the site of them dang jet skis. Learned that while bass tournament fishing Lake Eufaula and Blackshear. No respect.
I can say the same about some bass fishermen. I have almost been blown off the water by some going from one hole to another during a tournament. They act like they own the water.

The more I know about something, the more I know that I did not know as much as I thought I knew that I knew.

Yea, they like to fish through duck decoys almost as much as I like to try to shot bass lures in flight.

This is no lie....when i was about 12 years old my dad took me and my younger brother duck huntin in lake okeechobee. We had some home-made duck floaters that we hunted out of because the water was too deep to wade that year. Dad got us out there before daylight, setup the blind and decoys, then He dumped us off in the water and went off fishin in the boat not too far away. About an hour after day-light, a bass boat came off a plane and started fishin about 100 yards from our duck blind and decoys. he fished all the way up to us...close enough that he actually got one of the decoy weight stings tangled in his trolling motor. Then to top it off he casted his spinner bait about five feet from our blinds. i know that we were hidden good, but cmon....he knew we were there. Being kids brought up to respect adults we didn't say a word.....you can believe that if that happened to me tommorow he would have hole in the side of his boat.....he's lucky dad was too busy catchin fish that day too....dad was only about 1/4 mile away, but he never saw the guy....he was sure pissed when we told him what happend.
