Do you drink on the water

Post by lonesouth »

Alcohol that is.

Curious if you guys knock back a couple cold ones under way or while fishing? Anyone ever been pulled over or given a sobriety test?

Keep in mind I'm not condoning getting hammered at sea or operating while impaired.

Food for thought if you do get pulled and think you are over the limit (0.08)

It's very hard to double haul a fly rod with a beer in your hand. You could use one of those beer helmets I guessImage

I do partake in a couple of cold beverages while on the water. However, I do so responsibly. I had never been questioned by FWC but 3 weekends ago while visiting the Flint for the first time I was pulled over by a Georgia officer because my buddy was sitting on the gunwale while we slowly cruised the river. After checking my equipment, which was all there, he asked me if he could see my eyes. I guess they were a bit red (Sweat and sunscreen tend to do this) so he proceeded to pull out the breathalizer. I blew as I was confident that I would pass, and I did.

That was the only time in all the time that I spend on the water that this has ever happend. If you are going to drink be careful, especially in GA.

I don't. Not that I have anything against somebody that does, just a personal preference.

my brother in law got a BUI one time at the lighthouse . he said he was the most sober one in the boat (3 beers), FWC took him to jail and let the drunker passengers load the boat and drive the truck home. As for myself I usually don't because I'am to busy fishing,it's hard to cast and drink at the same time.

I used to like to drink. :lick: Now I love to drink. :smt007 Just not on the water.
But remember, you have to get up early if you're gonna drink all day. salute1

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

No but I don't drink on land either.

I have problems enough trying to catch a fish and run the boat safely besides having any help.

If an officer looked at my eyes after a long hard day fishing, he might cuff me and haul me off to jail without a breath test.

Drinking is a choice. I choose not too.
