Fished with my Dad, brother Jono, and my brother's girlfriend's son. We left the house just after 5 30. We couldn't find any menhaden in the canal today but we were able to cast net some finger mulllet and pinfish. Jerry's also had shrimp so we picked up some shrimp there. We got to the hole and it was a bit slow to start with. We lost a few fish without ever seeing them, so spirits were low. Eventually my Dad landed a red that was about 21 inches on a shrimp. Liam, my brother's girlfriend's son was having a blast. He caught five pinfish and one big ladyfish, all on a push button. We caught lots of big alligator gar, some catfish, ladyfish, and some other trash fish. A bit later in the day I landed a 21 inch red that must have been the twin of my dad's fish. I caught that fish on a small pinfish. We finally found some menhaden around our spot and then started fishing again. We were catching plenty of ladyfish and big alligator gar. Jono caught a nice spanish on a menhaden and I lost another spanish right at the side of the boat. We didn't catch anything else worth talking about so we headed for the ramp. We got checked by the FWC at the ramp, but we had everything we needed. We ended up bringing home the two reds and the spanish. We saw lots of local fishing buddies at the ramp and we are anxious to hear their reports. Hopefully everyone fishing in the tournament today did well. Tight lines.
