Promised my Granddaughter (oldest) that I'd take her fishing before school started next week. Since her little sister hadn't been yet, my son and I decided to kill them two birds. We didn't put much emphasis on getting on the water at any particular time but tried to take a more relaxed approach. We did manage to get on the water around 9:30-10am and headed out. I wasn't interested in staying in the flats with the lack of trout and the temp's being way up there, I decided to head out past the birdrack and check out some bottom in 17-18 ft to see if the girls could pick up some bottom creatures. However, on the way we noticed a fairly large shower building to our West. There was no lighting or thunder but still we didn't want to get wet and I wanted to make little sister's (LS) first trip as pleasant as possible so I turned East and ran for a bit to a spot that had been good to me in the past. When we arrived (after more riding than some were interested in) we started putting out some lines. I had just put LS rig together, baited and tossed it out. That CT hadn't even bobbed to the top before it was head'n for Cuba! That poor little ole zebco's drag sounded like a chain saw. Fortunately, what ever express had taken off became separated and we retrieve everything and started over. There wasn't much to brag about except that there were enough very small sharks and catfish to keep the girls entertained.

We must have caught a dozen 12-14 inch sharks and half a dozen cats.

Dad stayed pretty involved with maintaining the “if big sister’s doing it…little sister’s gonna want the same general location…

Dad also had his moments with two at a time being hooked up…

After an hour of the shark tournament, we cranked up and went back to spot #1 with the rain now over land and on its way to Tallahassee. By this time the tide movement was flat and after 2 or 3 drifts and 3 passes trolling a hard bait, along with having enjoyed about all the heat we wanted, we decided to head on in. Even out in 18 ft of water, the surface temp was a solid 87 degrees. Saw lots of bait. With respect to the first trip for LS, it went very well. She seemed to be very comfortable on the water and enjoys having something pulling on her line (Big Sister had a good time as well).

AWESOME report, Sir Reel! :smt038 My little one's still about a year away from a trip out but there will not be a happier day for me than when I put one of those pink zebco outfits in the boat! :smt050
