Black Mold
Yep, we got it
the shower stall has been leaking and I started tearing it apart yesterday evening. What started as a repair the leak job is now a tear out the sheetrock and insulation PLUS kill the mold job
TC or any others that have experience with this stuff, WHAT DO I NEED TA DO?

Re: Black Mold
Back in 94 when we had the flood in the Albany area, we sprayed down the framing with clorox, let it dry and then repeated. Did this a couple times. I still have two houses I did this to and so far no problem with mold. However, the mold had not started growing when I began spraying. I also suspect a strong solution of something like TSP would do the job.

Re: Black Mold
There is stuff that is used for mold other than bleach.
Google it, we had a flood here in Valdosta.
If your gonna do the bleach thing that is online too.
I also think there was info on the Red Cross site.
I would use pool chlorene as it is much stronger.
Don't buy cheap bleach if your going to use bleach.
Anything you can cut out and replace do its a spore.
Ventalation over a period of time so it can dry fans & dehumidifiers wont hurt.
Gloves and mask
IT IS TOXIC SEAL THE GARBAGE BAGS WELL BE CAREFUL.

Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?
Re: Black Mold
According to my havc contractor, bleach won't kill it. He recommends amonia or vinegar...I forget which one. I think amonia, but I can call him tomorrow and find out.

Re: Black Mold
We did use bleach here with success. The article I read said double bag don't spread throw it out the window don't carry through the house. Must get rid of all porous material treat often must be dry. etc...
