
I was met at the launch with a stiff 15 mph wind out of the east. Undaunted, I paddled out to an area that's been known to hold a redfish or two. Nothing like a new kayak. Getting in one and paddling out for the first time always gives me an extra dose of that feeling we anglers are addicted to--optimism. Fishing a strong outgoing tide, I picked up some lower slot reds to about 22". I was using a Chartruse ADL spoon. Then I found a few of these topslots



After releasing that one, I immediately hook up with another big fish. This overslot fish decided to take permanent possession of my spoon and swam off into the sunrise. Having already gotten the goodie out of the morning bite, I paddled to the hill. Here's a couple more pics of my new red and trout fishing machine
