New to the big bend area, need onshore locations

I just moved to High Springs and want to do some salt water fishing. I do not currently have a boat so onshore fishing is for me.
How is Suwannee or Cedar key for onshore fishing? I am open to all suggestions..oh and I don't care much about what I catch as long as it
isn't a boat load of channel cats

Any ideas as well as baits for the areas suggested?

I believe that the reason for why you aren't getting much info is because a majority of folks on this site fish Steinhatchee North (could be wrong). I have fished the Cedar Key area from boat and noticed that there a numerous places where you could probably catch reds on a high tide from the shoreline. Just do some roaming around and you should be able to find areas along the side of the main drag that hold water. Oh, as far as lures go..... topwater of course.

WELCOME, BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD GOING INTO CEDAR KEY HAVE SOME GOOD FISH , HAVE SOME REAL GOOD SHOES WITH HEAVY SOLES BECAUSE MOST OF THE AREA AROUND CEDAR KEY IS COVERED WITH OYSTER BARS, I WOULD USE TOP WATER PLUGS MAINLY BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GET HUNG UP IN THE OYSTERS, I HAVE ALWAYS USED SILVER OR BLUE PLUGS LIKE THE SALTY DOG, CHUG BUG, AND ANY TOP WATER THAT HAS SPINNERS ON THE REAR AND FRONT OF THE PLUG. ANOTHER GOOD COLOR THAT I USE TO USE YEARS AGO WAS YELLOW AND WHITE WITH RED HEAD LIKE THE HEDDON SPOOK. GOOD LUCK, CATCH A BUNCH.

Thanks for the tips. I went out to Shired Island and caught a red and a couple of cats. The oyster beds are terrible in Horseshoe beach. Not sure why they even call that place a beach. I never saw one.
