St Marks

Same conditions as our big red day, so we thought we would give it a try. Bait was real hard to come by, but we managed a mix of pogies, pinfish and finger mullet. After we decided we had enough, we headed to spot A. Someone was fishing there, so we eased away from them a couple hundred yards. They were not really in the strike zone, so we figured they would move off pretty soon. We could have fished our spot, but we decided we would have not been happy if someone was that close to us, so we gave them their space.

They moved off and we jumped in their grave. We pretty quickly caught 3 reds and a jack. The fourth red was shark chased. We said to heck with this and moved to a new spot. We fished around and picked up 9 more reds here and there, and a black drum and several cats and one ray. Had action for most of the day. We ran low on bait as the tide started going slack so we called it a day.

Early in the day we let a smallish red go, not quite 20", but thin, and we were rewarded later with a nice fat 25" for the box. We had planned on tryin the trout, but the reds would not let us leave.

It's hard to depart the area to seek trout when reds are biting.

Mostly in the 4-5 or so, we were in deeper, but casting back to shallower. It was incoming, but I don't think it matters, as long as it is moving. Just have to change where you are fishing.
