I was adjusting the jackplate and saw they left a part off the motor & went to pick it up.
When I got to the ramp no crank. I use the trolling motor battery and get it going.
A few hits & misses in shallow 1 puppy drum. Off to Trout land no crank another jump.
We get some Trout in 3 - 5' on cork & grubs he was killing me with a hook & no jig head.
I got some of the corks that Barry talked about from Midcoast Products. They are cool.
I make a change and I am closing in fast on his heels. I also am slamming the big cats.
At the end of a set of bars there was a big enough swirl it scared us both.
Tried not to move to much as I saw I was low on gas. Got slower to crank so I decided to go @ 2:00.
We had six nice Trout & a good Flounder in the box. Got back to GA. Went to the mechanic.
I got to the mechanics and tried to jump it off again and it was to low to start it good timing to leave.
Turns out the oil tank was pretty much empty two. Hmmmmmmmm. Dead battery low on gas & oil.
Truth be told I could have really put us in harms way with my slack behavior on the prep work
& or blown the motor. I think I saw the light and will do better I hope it is for ever and not just a while.
Also I bent the skeg on the way in as the water was dropping like crazy and it was getting pretty low.
I plan to go again this week it is about to really get good. The jack plate is cool. I like the way the boat felt.
WAM OUT
