Me and a buddy had the bug to go offshore but the only day we could go was today cause we are both tied up this w/e, so we said the heck with the waves and head out this morning. The forecast was right on for once, strong 15kt wind outta the north pushin 2-3 ft swells. We loaded up on live pinfish on the reef and headed to 40ft. We hit 3 spots in that area and caught 15 short gags/reds and 1 barely keeper. The Skunk was off the boat and we decided to head to 65ft due to the waves slicking off. Upon arival we were met by two quality red snaps at 22ish inches. Then andy gets a sweet catch in 65ft, a 17inch scamp. After this we both were broken off several times by what we think were big gags. A couple minutes laterI dropped the biggest pinfish in the livewell down and hung on....30 secconds go by and chug a chug chug chug...choo choo...i get freight trained into the rocks but i give that bastage heck and it took all i had to keep him out (keep in mid im using a meatstick with 80lb braid and 80lb mono leader) and somehow manage to keep him out of the bottom. Back and forth we faught like heavyweights unitll he surrenders and I pull a giant mangrove snapper over the rail. He is my biggest to date and weighed in at 10.14 lbs

! After a few high fives, we moved on to a few more spots picking up 1 more nice keeper gag. It was a good day overall, we wanted to get a few more grouper but hey, we still filled the box with other volunteers....tight lines!
Final tally:
2 Red Snapper to 22"
1 Mangrove Snapper at 10.14lbs
2 Gags to 25"
1 Scamp at 17"
3 Seabass to 14"
Tons of short gags and reds
