Cheap Trailer Tire - Mounted - Tallahassee

Post by Atticus »

My SPARE trailer tire imploded on me. It was on the axle for about 4 years before it had to be patched (in a tricky spot) and was relegated to riding on the frame as a spare only. I filled her with air last weekend and I checked on the boat yesterday - looks like someone crushed it in a car crusher.

So I need a new SPARE tire. Where, near Tallahassee, can I bring the wheel and get a CHEAP trailer tire of the same size mounted? I don't care about used. I don't care about the brand. I want the cheapest mounted trailer tire possible to be used only in emergencies. Any ideas?

I've gotten some in the past from a couple of the used tire shops on South Monroe (across from the McDonalds on the west side or south Crawfordville Hwy on the left just before Hwy 98. Cheap and serviceable for your needs.

THE LAST TRAILER TIRES I BOUGHT WERE AT WALLY-MART, I BOUGHT THE 155X75X13 FOR ONLY $19.99 EACH AND MOUNTED THEM MYSELF, THIS WAS ABOUT 5 YRS AGO AND THEY ARE STILL LIKE NEW WITH ABOUT 3/8THS IN. TREAD LEFT. I STARTED USING REGULAR CAR TIRES OVER 50 YEARS AGO AND HAVE HAD FANTASTIC RESULTS WITH THEM COMPARED TO THE REGULAR BOAT TRAILER TIRE.

Atticus, I have not traded with them, but I have noticed used tires at Walker Auto & Tire Repair, 5876 W Tennessee St, (850) 575-3736. Close to Southern Belle Trailer Sales.

Mr. V:

I will check and get back with you. Maybe I'll trade you some lures for a tire.

Dang, does she ever work? Ha, just kidding. I called earlier this week and she was off, just called a few minutes ago and she wasn't there yet. :) My Wifey needs some new tires for her CRV. I'll call after lunch.

PA, that is a great idea... Bigger tire and more tread.
Where do you get the wheels/rims for a trailer hub?
