Ecofina10-16

Post by reelcatch »

Well I decided to give the Ecofina another chance. I made a trip to Kevin's this week and picked up a new G Lomis rod and some Aqua Dream spoons. Game ON.

Got to the ramp around 7 and launched and the boat. Water is perfect with some wind picking up. Made it down to just short of Hickory Mound about 7:45. I fished here for about an hour giving it plenty of chances but only produced one Flounder. He was not real big and I was not sure yet how the day was going to go so back he went.

Kind of fished my way down to in front of Hickory Mound and decided that it was time to break in the new spoons. Good call. Caught several shorts and three keepers. Ranged from 17-23". They sure loved that spoon. The bite turned of and I decided to try and catch some of the game so I was back at the ramp about 1.

I kind of followed Capt Mike's day of fishing and went through the top, bottom then middle. Should have gone middle sooner.

All fish were caught in 4.6 feet of water on a dropping tide.

I hope this makes it back to Mike, his advice sure paid off.

That one on the bottom looks HUGE

Did they all hit a gold spoon? I have never caught a trout on a gold spoon for some reason

The two bigger ones did. The 17 hit a gulp off the bottom. That is the best spoon I have used. Not that I am an expert on them but it just seems to work really easy and they sure did love it. I also caught several other fish that were too small on it as well. Never got around to trying a different color. I was really trying to find a red fish.
