Lanark 5/1/04

Post by creech »

First, I would like to say thanks to all that offered up information on the Lanark area last week.

We got to the Lanark boat ramp around 8:30 Saturday morning. I bought some live shrimp, drinks, & snacks and was in the water by 9:00. We headed left out off the landing in the direction of the FSU lab. I stop just short of the lab in about 4.5' water. We had a very good wind and the drift was slow and steady. On our first drift toward shore we pick up a couple of keeper size trout :D. We made the drift a few more times but came up empty handed. We decided to head out to the Lanark shoal. We started drifting the shoal and got in to a nice school of small Spanish & also a few short trout. While around the shoal I got broken off twice, I assume larger Spanish. Around 1:00 we decided to head back in toward the lab. Bingo, we have now found the trout.

Total for the day:
10 Keeper trout (2 over 20")
10-15 shorts
6-8 small Spanish
3 catfish

Creech,

What were your baits? Just live shrimp?
