Need Some Help

Post by generalee »

Folks,
A couple of buddies are visiting Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to fish. My hopes are to send them back to North Carolina with a few red snapper, grouper, and black sea bass for their winter diner table. Looking at the NOAA forecast, I see east and north east winds with 2 to 3 ft seas forecast. A couple of weeks ago I fished 2 to 3 foot seas in a north east wind and found what I estimated to be more like 3 to 5 foot seas. I fear the chance that seas may be a little much for a senior citizens trip offshore, at least early in the weekend.

I can take them fishing in a 17ft. Cape Horn inshore for trout and redfish. Here is where I need help. Where are the trout and redfish now ? Based on what I have read on this site and heard the fish may have moved up the rivers and creeks. I normally fish the flats at Turkey Point Shoals and around Lanark from our place at Alligator Point. We could trailer the boat to other locations. I am not asking for anyone to give up a honey hole location. I simply would like to take these guys fishing in the same zip code as some trout and redfish.

Any help in the form of suggestions of general areas to fish inshore, baits and late fall techniques will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
