Ochlocknee bay 11-17

Post by grasscarp »

Went down to the mouth of the Ochlocknee yesterday on a solo trip. Despite the 15 mph wind first thing in the morning and the cold front that pushed though, the fish were everywhere. Started off in some bars in the ochlocknee first thing in the morning and had very little success. I didnt have alot of confidence since i didnt have a GPS and i didnt want to tear up the boat so i just trolled around from bar to bar. about 8 I caught a little rat red so decided to stay a little longer. 8:30 a short trout, 8:45 short red, 9:00 another short trout and then the tide started to change. once the water started to move the fish went wild. 21 inch red, 21 inch trout, several shorts of reds and trouts. The rat reds were thick all over and I started fishing fast to try to keep it away from them so i could limit out on trout. All fish were caught on a soft plastic jerk bait in 2 to 5 feet of water.
