Hit the fort late on account of Captal Circle construction(nice goin' guys at rush hour). In at 8:20.

Fished just south of the lighthouse til about 10:15. Got large ladyfish and what I think were blue runners, very large. All caught on live shrimp under a CT.

Headed East, got into a spot 3.4' -4.1' deep. Had a sabiki out with FB's, Shrimp under a CT, and the wind had died so I threw top water cuz a chartruese/ E. Chicken/candy corn/whitenred grub was not working.

At 11:10 it lit up. 27 trout in the next 50 minutes. 7 or 8 more got away at the boat. They were knocking the snot out of a mirrolure, knocking it out of the water. All trout were 17.5"-18". Loved every minute of it. Top water ROCKS! Only got one hit on the live shrimp under the CT and it spooled me clean in about 12 seconds - snap! Would like to know what that was - it never stopped.

Water temp was around 74. Winds were out of the N to begin with then calm then shifted to out of the S. Water very clear to 6' east of the lighthouse. Not too many folks out there. Beautiful day.

tally-
27 trout, kept 2
5 ladyfish
4 blue runners?
One heck of a spool!!!

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Did you run into ALMAR and Carl out there? Sounds like you had a blast on the topwater. That's exciting fishing when they splode up on the topwater plugs.

OD, I may have been pretty close to them. I trolled quietly close to another Key West, thought it might have been Tin Can. Three folks in the boat. I never like gettin' to close to people out there. Would like to meet ALMAR sometime.

We saw you trolling by us , about 100 yrds, further out, Carl and I were in the 16' McKee , Orange top, tan sides, we caught our fish in the area you were trolling, ended up with 26 trout, 2 blues, 2 spanish, threw all back except 4 for supper. We caught our fish on the Yozuri, Bomber, DOA, Salt Water Assasin, and curly tail jigs. We also had a time with a bunch of skip jacks out over the bar at about low tide around 10:00. Was a perfect day weather wise.

When I saw you I thought you were TinCan, your boat looked similar to his but I could not tell if it was Key West or not. I was busy with a blame lady fish that was about 4# when you went by.

I usually wear a green pea pickin hat when I am out there. Maybe I could borrow a wig from chalk and fly it like a dive flag. You gentlemen give me a shout when you are out there sometime.
