going saturday

Post by hookedonred »

going to try to hit the aucilla this saturday but have some questions. I normally fish it in the spring and summer months and have no idea where to begin to look for them in the river...fished the st.marks and tore the trout up but couldnt get on a red so hence the reason for trying the aucilla...anyone been out there lately not looking for spots just whether i should head up river or down river...thanks

Start up river and work down until you find the bite.
Use your bottom machine and fish the deeper holes.

Is that how you catch all your big fish JT

The Aucilla, SM and Spring Creek all have a bunch of reds right now. slow down however you choose to fish for them. Good luck

Nice. Congrats! I went Saturday as well and didn't find any trout. My buddy and I caught probably 60 reds, mostly pups. I did manage about a dozen reds on the fly rod though (a first) and we kept one fish for the cast iron skillet.

OK, good work and you guys have my attention.... The cold and wind have kept me from getting out there for far too long...You can obviously fish and catch em in the aucilla with winds that keep me from fishing the Panama City bays..... Anywhere else fishable in strong winds? After reports like this one, I think I'll be making another drive down real soon.

Done that a few weeks ago JT...fished the entrance , the little St. Marks and around Bay City....caught a few but it was hard fishing with the wind blowing like it was (even in the river) and it was way too cold for this south Fla born boy.... There's gotta be somewhere the wind isn't so bad.
