Hey guys still pretty new to the site, but was hoping to get some insight from ya. I have 8ft power pole that is acting up on me. About 2 weeks ago while out at st.marks it worked for the first 2 up and down and then quite working. I went out today to mess with it so I can try and hit the coast again , and once again it woked for 2 up and downs and then wamp wamp, not working. The trolling motor which uses the same battery as the power pole works fine and has been plugged in for days now. So I dont think it is the battery. I can hear the reciever under the console click but nothing at the pole. If anyone has experienced the same or has any insight I am all ears. Thanks in advance!
I keep two on the boat to stake out from any position and they are the one of the best fishing tools I've ever used! Besides, they are A LOT cheaper than the PP.
You also probable have a inline fuse or breaker that may need checking.
Really sounds like a bad ground, works the first couple times, heats up and looses connection.
“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”
Thanks for the input I will check the fuses, but wevans I'm with ya,I think it is a ground. I will check it in the morning. Going to go out anyway's, so hopefully will figure it out in the a.m. I will tell ya about what I figure out with the pole and the fishing later!
I missed the part about working again. I agree with wevans, sounds like the ground heats up. If the breaker or a fuse were blown, it wouldn't work at all.
I had the same problem one day..If it's like mine (and I suspect it's the same), look for where the control box is mounted...(little gray box) There's a quick connect coupling that comes out of the bottom of the contol box.... check that the coupling is plugged in securely and not getting wet.. Mine was mounted too low and if I ever got any water in the bilge and the connection got wet, the power pole would quit working.... if that's the problem, either move the control box or coat the connection with liquid tape for a quick fix.
