St. Marks Flats 2/18/11

Post by jhults7 »

Went to st marks yesterday and fished north of grey mare during the low tides in the am. Poled and fished 8 to 14 inches of water and saw over 100 tails and 200 wakes but they were so dam spooky we couldnt even get into range b4 they would spook. Some a couple schools of bruisers too but they wanted nothin to do with us. Saw some nice sheepshead and couldnt get them to hit either. Water temp was 63 at 3pm in 4ft. Wont be long now and there will be trout all over the flats...

Glad you got out. We did some sightfishing in lanark and turkey point. Same deal, no takers. Did manage 2 bulls near dog island. Like you said, shouldn't be long.

Sorry, :( It's still a little early on most species. My experiences in Feb. and early March have been a lot like yours, spooky fish that don't bite well. Warmer temps are coming. :smt004
