Lighthouse Ramp Update

Post by fly n fish »

Don't know how widely this has been distributed but here is a ramp update I got today concerning the lighthouse ramp.

First, please let all our patient saltwater anglers know that our
lighthouse saltwater ramp construction project hit some snags, literally
and figuratively, and we certainly apologize for disrupting folks' plans to
get out on the flats. The contractor is working weekends, nights,
whenever, to catch the right tides. The first two concrete ends have been
laid and the rest of the old ramp will be ripped up this week. The next
two days, the area will be graded and packed and forms made for the rest of
the upper concrete ramp. They should be poured by Thursday and will need
to cure at least 20 days. So, we hope to open the new ramp by the end of
April.

Ben Withers is finishing the pilings for the new Gatordock fishing pier in
East River. Other pools along Lighthouse Rd. opened March 15 for handlaunch
boats.

Panacea Unit - road 316, across Otter Lake Rd., opened March 15 and will be
open through May 15, 2011 for fishing access. Daylight use only.

Thanks,

Robin

Thanks for the update.
Is it true that boats can launch with no fee for 2 months due to the inconvenience of the ramp being closed during the flats explosion currently underway?

I heard rumor has it that they'll also begin limiting the number of boats aloud to launch per day (50?), once that limit has maxed, they'll start turning boats away.

Any truth in this?
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

They had already been doing this but I think the number was a little higher.
