I haven't fished the St. Joe area before. It seems the recommended hotel isn't on the water. I got spoiled at Keaton. It sure was nice to fish on Friday and leave the boat in the water and jump in Saturday morning. What's everyone planning for the May tournement? Where is the closet ramp? Where are people staying Friday planning to store their boats?

you can stay at the mainstay and keep your boat there .the drive to the ramp is just a few mins from there .the fishing area is similar to keaton with mainly just grass and sand .

That is because there are NO motels directly on the water. There is a campground directly on the water at Presnell's. Other than that, only private homes (many for rent) directly on the Bay. There are 4 ramps to the Bay. The big city ramp in the middle of town is the most popular and closest to the motel. There is a ramp in the canal just east of the city (other side of bridge over canal). There is a ramp at Presnell's (not good for long boats), but closer to where most people fish. There is a ramp in the State Park across the bay. Oh yea, if you are kayaker there is a new launch point at the beginning of the Cape in the County Park and then another at the stump hole.

Friday night, everyone meets up at the Thirsty Goat to watch JT51 get smashed and show off his nanny goat (girlfriend) pictures. (just kidding ... about the thirsty goat).
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
