Ocklochnee Bay

Post by Jobu »

Started in the bay around 10:00am. Saw some baitfish on top of the water so threw a topwater in the middle. On the second cast, swoosh. 22 inch redfish. Got him in the boat and then he got me. Treble hook through the right hand ring finger. Would have thrown him back, but not now. After getting the hook out of him, got the hook out of me. I keep a first aid kit on board, so wrapped it up and kept fishing. At slack tide, we went out past the mouth and throwing our secret weapon caught three flounder. Decided to troll for some Spanish and found one mixed in with seven bluefish at Ocklochnee Shoal. By then the wind picked up and it was time to head to the hill. Finger hurts and is still bleeding, but a good day for the Jobu.

Jobu had that happen last year bass fishing. Couldnt get the hook out on my own it had gotten hung on the bone in my thumb. I had to go to the emergency room to get them to get it out. Still paying for that fish!

I was in the Bay on Saturday on my 15' jon boat. My buddy got hooked up with a 40" red that pulled us around a good bit after we pulled up the anchor (if we hadn't, his line would have been long gone). We also got a few sand sharks and a big catfish, but no more reds. Overall it was a good day even though it was overcast up until we left when it decided to get pretty. If I knew how to upload a picture, I would
