Looking for a Kayak
My son is looking for a kayak to fish the flats. He's approximately 5'7" about 160 pounds. Looking for a sturdy, roomy kayak with good storage. Looking for suggestions on recommended models and locations to buy between Albany Ga and St. Mark's/Keaton Beach. If anyone knows of a used one in good condition, much appreciated. I think he's eyeballing the Outback series.

Check with Rob at T-N-T Hideaway or Captain Mike at St Marks Outfitters. They often have good used kayaks for sale. For a great selection of new and used kayaks go to The Wilderness Way on Shadeville Highway, they have lots of cool yaks for sale. Also, post a 'wanted' ad on the FCKA forum. People there will give you lots of good advice and often have boats for sale.

Yeah Bill has some good advice. The Outback is a Hobie Kayak which incorporates a mirage drive(pedals) Also check out the Hobie Revolution. It's similar to the Outback in that it is a pedal drive kayak. The big difference is it's versatility. It's a much more streamlined and is a capable paddle boat as well--and it doesn't sacrifice stability. The closest Hobie dealer is the Wilderness Way in Wakulla station.
Also check out Kevin's in Tallahassee. Lin carries a really nice lineup of fishing kayaks there as well.

Ron, Huggins in Albany is a Hobie dealer. They have a couple or 2009 orange Outbacks that are demos. They also have a green Hobie Quest that is a demo. Ask for Scott.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. He's off work tomorrow and is going by Huggins to look at the boats, then he's going to call some of the other places and find the best deal.
