ECONFINA, FISHIN NOT CATCHIN.

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA LOOKS LIKE HE HAS FORGOTTEN HOW TO CATCH TROUT AND NEARLY ANYTHING ELSE. I GOT DOWN TO ECONFINA TODAY AFTER SEVERAL MINOR PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER SOLENOID. WE WENT EAST OF THE TRIPOD ABOUT 3 MILES AND THE THREE OF US ONLY CAUGHT 3 TROUT IN ABUT 5 HOURS. I LOST 2 NICE TROUT AT THE BOAT WITH HOOKS BREAKING IN THE EYE. TOTAL CATCH WAS 3 TROUT, I PIN FISH, 1 LADYFISH, 1 TURTLE ABOUT 25 POUNDS. WE LOST ABOUT 4 FISH AT THE BOAT WHICH INCLUDED A NICE RED, BIG TROUT , AND SEVER SPANISH
THIS IS NOT MUCH OF A REPORT BUT I GUESS IT IS BETTER THAN NOT CATCHIN ANYTHING. THE WEATHER WAS GREAT UNTIL ABOUT 1:30 WHEN THE WIND PICKED UP AND WE LEFT.

Sounds frustrating losing some nice fish, but it sounds like you had a good bit of action. Glad you got out. Looking forward to the next report.

YEA, I HOPE TO GET BACK DOWN AGAIN NEXT WEEK AND TRY OYSTER BAY, HAVEN'T FISHED THE OYSTER BAY SINCE MY OLD FISHIN PARTNER, CARL BROWN, DIED. WE ALWAYS DID GOOD OVER AROUND THE FRESH WATER BOIL. THE ONLY REAL DISAPPOINTMENT YESTERDAY WAS TO FIND OUT THAT THE LITTLE FORD 150 WITH A STRAIGHT 6 , 300 ENGINE ONLY GOT A LITTLE OVER 12 MPG PULLING THE BOAT. I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO GET MY SIL TO FIND ME A DODGE DAKOTA WITH A V-6, THE LAST ONE I HAD GOT 22 MPG PULLING THIS SAME BOAT.

Hello PA,
Sorry about you losing your best fishing buddy. :( I think the Carl Brown I was blessed to know was a different man. He died not long ago too. Here's his video of SeaBee's WWII experience, I just happened to find on the internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzrrJT4jrls

Your friend would be glad to know you're going to hit the Oyster Bay next week.

HEY LORDSFISHER, THAT IS THE ONE AND ONLY CARL BROWN THAT WAS MY BEST FRIEND. CARL AND I WERE BOTH OVERSEAS AT THE SAME TIME, I WAS BOMBING BEACHHEADS AND HE WAS DOWN BELOW BUILDING ROADS AND LANDING STRIPS. WE DID NOT KNOW EACH OTHER THEN, I WAS IN THE MARINE CORP. AND CARL WAS IN THE SEEBEES. I DID NOT MEET CARL UNTILL 1997 WHEN WE BUILT OUR RETIREMENT HOME IN CAIRO. WE BOTH WENT TO 1ST BAPTIST AND HE INVITED ME TO GO FISHING WITH HIM DOWN ON THE COAST. I KNOW CARL AND MARY HAD A GREAT IMPACT ON THE CANOPY ROAD CHURCH AFTER THEY MOVED TO TALLAHASSEE. I STILL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH MARY AND I KNOW SHE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY OF THE VIDEO YOU PUT ON HERE. I PERSONALLY WOULD APPRECIATE IT A GREAT DEAL IF YOU COULD SEND HER A COPY. HER E-MAIL IS (BROWNMARYC@AOL.COM)

What a great video! I sit here with tears in my eyes giving thanks to all the men and women like Mr Brown that sacrificed SO much to make this country great! I hope that we NEVER forget the greatest generation as they slip away into our memories as time marches on! When you hear the words of those who were there it makes you stop and put down the Ipads, cellphones, computers and tech toys and appreciate what REALLY matters. God Bless YOU ALL!
