Went out of Shields around 7-8 AM......Wow the fog was THICK.....got lucky and followed a big boat out slowly.....we were all the way to the tripod before I could tell where we were. Headed east to black rock, fished 3-5 feet picking up a few. The best fish of the day 23 inches came on a Paul Browns. I had never used one before so any advice on the proper retrieval techniques would be appreciated. We worked our way back to towards the lighthouse catching a fish here or there. We had a good half hour catching 12 out from the lighthouse on the left side. Most fish caught on popping cork and new penny gulp. Brought home 3 keepers for dinner making the wife happy and making it possible for another "kitchen pass" to fish another day. I look forward to getting down to Carrabelle soon. In had a similar fog experience a few weeks ago. I was thinking about going out Sunday and saw the fog rolling in at my home in Tally so I ditched the thought around 9:00. Let's hope next weekend is better, especially for the NFGFC/SMYC tourney. I'm itching to get out as I haven't been in a couple weeks.

That fog is nothing to play with. If a low cloud of fog comes in while you're on the water, a person will want a GPS. I haven't tried a Paul Brown yet, but what model did you try? Apparently you were making it look right (like a wounded fish). Paul Brown's pink devil looks like a great big trout lure to me. It kind of reminds me of that old 7" Fred Arbogast lure we were talking about the other day. (I want to hear if that one caught trout too).

The bait was a Paul Brown Fat Boy model in Pearl/Chartruse. I have the pink devil also. The retrieve I used was more of a twitch and let flutter for 3-5 seconds. It has an interesting movement to it but not one the can be worked in a walk the dog manner. If anyone has any other ideas on how to work it to get max results I would appreciate input! Tight lines everyone!

My brother gave me two Paul Brown Fat Boys last week. I tried one for awhile but didn't catch any fish with it.

It is an interesting lure and seems it should work?

Anyone on the forum that uses them and would share their thoughts?

They work best if you bend them. Bend the head right or left for different actions. Leave the head straight and bend the tail right or left for other actions. Leave head and tail straight and bend a hump in the back for other actions.

less is more with a Corky. If you want to work something fast or hard pick up a different rod. Slow, easy twitches with long pauses. Vast majority of hits come when suspending without moving.
