5/14 & 5/15 Port St. Joe

Post by Chalk »

Myself and brother "Can" (Tincan) headed down Friday to prefish the NFGFC tournament. Mr. Keels advised us put at Presnells, but we chose to put in at Eagle Harbor...Long story short after we took two or three waves over the bow and one over the stern :o ..It was time to go back to the trailer....But by this time both my boots were full of water and I was wet up to my arse....

Put in Presnells....Fished all over the bay..saw some big sharks, turtles and a few cobies....Ended up catching about 15-20 trout biggest was 23"..Caught mostly on stick baits..various kinds...It was just finding the fish...Different world over at St. Joe..Still not bad for gusting winds, taking about 6-7 waves over the bow and myself being wet to my skivies three times in one day :o ..Tincan never complained

Tournament was a different day..Winds had shifted a little, more clouds and I didn't get wet  ....Stuck to the same pattern as the day before, took til noon to get 5 keepers.....We kept fishing the same area..ended up with 7 keepers....If you count lost or missed trout, it would probably total around 40/50 trout, we easily missed 20 trout each day....

We placed 4th, Ty Smith placed first, not sure of the guy that placed second? The Taylor boys finished third.....

Despite the conditions some good trout were caught....

I would like to thank the Keels for taking the handicap Jawja boy in for a night  and Tincan for being a gracious host and guide and allowing me to catch the majority of the fish :smt042

I'm beat.....

It was indeed a tough weekend. But, thanks to my handicapped Gawga partner, we caught some fish. I'll concede that he did catch the most, and the largest. However, he measured my fish Florida style, and his fish Georgia style.

I did have to listen to the boy whine all day Friday. "I'm wet! I"m cold!" He got a little water on him a few times and fussed about it all day.

There was a posetive side to the weekend. Chalk didn't break anything on the boat this weekend.

Wevans, you would think I would learn about prefishing. Don't guess I ever will.
What was I supposed to do today?

Now for the record, after the last two waves that that rolled over the bow, we ran a few more minutes. When we stopped someone other than me said, "Chit I'm cold now." For the record :smt045
