We started out of the Econ at 9:30am and headed east. I lost a maybe keeper trout at the boat on a Redfin. Mom landed a 17" Redfish shortly after that. That was all the action for about an hour. We tried stained water, cloudy, clear, shallow, and moderate (3-5) with no luck. I decided we needed to try elsewhere. We headed to the west side of the river and stopped at a nice little place a friend told me about. Mom quickly landed another Redfish, this one was 17 1/2" (getting closer).
By now I am getting a little frustrated by the lack of bend in my pole. About that time Mom lets out a grunt and a whoop. I look over to see her pole bent double and her drag singing. She has our dinner on the end of her line. A few minutes later a 22 1/2" Redfish is in the cooler. Great job Mom!
I am still wondering what I am doing that is spooking the fish when, KABLAM, my pole doubles and my drag is smoking. About 5-7 minutes later I reluctantly release a beautiful 28" Redfish. Shortly after that I decide if I plan to get the boat cleaned and us fed it is time to go to the barn.
I don't know how much longer Mom will be able to fish. I truly enjoy seeing her eyes light up every time she gets a quality fish on the line.
I made dinner from Mom's catch and now it is time to take a well deserved night's sleep.
