Ecofina 4/23/11 maiden voyage part2

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

Last trip out in Daniels (new to him) Key Largo ended up stuck in the river due to ethanol. :smt011 This time all the problems were fixed and it ran great. :-D Got on the water at sunrise and headed down towards Rock Island and worked our way almost to Aucilla before we were done. The water was pretty clear and 75-79 degrees. We never found fish concentrated but still managed 9 trout from 15.5" to 23"(3lbs,12oz) 1 blue, 1 bsb, and a 3'gar. The dog-gone catfish were hitting grubs like crazy today. Took most of the day to find the magic color and when we did we burned through 2 bags of them. Most fish caught in 4-6' of water. Great day on the water and can't wait to eat them tomorrow. URL=http://img52.imageshack.us/i/catch42311.jpg/]Image[/URL]

We got into the catfish real bad last Sat. near the Aucilla. My son was catching them on a Spook, but most seemed to favor Gulp under a Cajun Thunder. Caught a lot of nice trout too, but no reds.

You were using Jr.'s Xpress as bait?

Now I know why people follow him around so much now.

Jr is a person.
Xpress is a brand of boat.
Jr runs an Xpress named "Off the Chain".
People follow Jr sometimes because he's one heck of an angler (salt or fresh) and pot lick.
Rock Island is also his stomping grounds.
