AUTO INSURANCE

Post by reelbad »

My auto insurance company (Cotton State) will no longer be offering insurance in the state of Fla after July 1st 2011. Do any of you folks have a preference of who you would go with? Allstate, Statefarm, the lizard?. Thanks.

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH COTTON STATES, MY AGENT FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS HAS DROPPED COTTON STATES, HE WOULD NOT SAY WHY. THE NEW AGENT I HAVE WITH C.S. IS 30 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE. BEING 88 YRS. OLD IS HARD TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER COMPANY WITHOUT PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE. WE HAVE NOT HAD A CHARGEABLE ACCIDENT IN OVER 3 MILLION MILES OF DRIVING AND OUR PREMIUM IS ABOUT 1/2 WHAT OTHER COMPANIES WANT TO COVER US.

They notified me that they would be dropping my residential insurance as well, which is actually a shame, because I recently had a claim after a leaking water pipe in the wall caused us to redo a bathroom and the kitchen. I was very happy with the way they handled the claim.

I would also add that I have had good luck with Progressive Insurance Co. on my boat in the past (thanks to those Aucilla River roaming rocks). Progressive Ins. and Parkway Marine managed to get me back on the water in short order.

I use Geico now. I've had Progressive, AllState, and The General.

My first insurance was State Farm, they were good, but premiums were out the wazoo.

The name your own price of Progressive is great, but didn't get the coverage I wanted for the price I was willing to pay.

All State was terrible, and TheGeneral has GREAT customer service (weird, I know).

I've had Geico, collectively for 3 1/2 years, they consistently give me the best prices and are most consistent in their customer service. Large Company, but they do a fine job for great drivers. Just know if you get in an accident or severe enough ticket, they'll drop you faster than a fly with broken wings.

State Farm for me. I had Progressive and went to Allstate after 4 Years. My premiums kept going up for no apparent reason which caused me to start shopping.
Geico wanted almost twice as much as Progressive. Allstate saved me over $100/yr. After 3 years with them I went shopping again with the same results, but State farm came in under Allstate by almost $100. As it is I am still paying over 900/yr with a safe driver endorsement and no collisions.

I HOPE WE CAN STAY WITH COTTON STATES, THE COVERAGE ON OUR VEHICLES IS $496, 1 NEW MERCURY MARQUIS, AND 1 1995 FORD 150 PICK-UP. WE HAVE OUR HOME OWNERS POLICY WITH C.S. AND IT IS $565 FOR $300,000 COVERAGE ON OUR HOME AND OUT BUILDINGS WHICH INCLUDES MY WORK SHOP AND EQUIPMENT. I KNOW IF WE HAVE TO GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY THE PREMIUMS WILL BE CONSIDERABLY HIGHER.

Its a FLORIDA thing PA....
Cotton States does not like the thought of another hurricane here in FLA.
The State passed a law that if you wont insure our homes you cant just insure our cars.
Tons of companies are pulling out. It all started a few years ago and Cotton States is just the newest one to drop us.

State Farm and Allstate also will not write new home policies here in Sunny Florida

Most agents are writing through other carriers.

I liked it so much, I bought the company ;-)
