5-14-11 St. Andrews Bay

Post by FlatCrazy »

Had a buddy of mine give me a pointer on where the flounder have been stacked up in St. Andrews Bay over the last few weeks. I love to eat the flatties, so I talked two of my buddies into giving it a shot with me on Saturday. Had some bad storms come through in the early morning hours so we did not end up launching the boat until around 10 a.m. We quickly netted up some bull minnows and headed to the area. We rigged the minnows carolina style and started fishing in 8-10 feet of water and started catching flounder immediately. In all, we caught probably 25-30 of them over a 2 hour period when we ran out of minnows. We ended up keeping 14. Most of the fish we caught were around 12 inches but we would only keep the fish that were at least 13.5 to 14 inches inches. Had one a little over 20 and another that was almost 20. Wind really started picking up around noon so instead of looking for more bait we called it a day.

Do you mind asking your info guy if the flounder and bull minnows will still be in the bay in June. I'll be there between June 6-15 on vacation. Sounds like you guys had a great day. I'd love to put the kids on some of those while we're there.
