Trailer Bunk Positioning Question?

Post by boomhauer »

Buddy of mine has a 1974 Mako 20ft with a modified V hull (limited deadrise). He just purchased a nice used trailer for it, but is having some difficulties with the bunks. It has 2 main logitudinal bunks in the back and 2 pivoting longitudinal bunks forward. Right now the bunks sit just outside the strakes... The strakes on his boat are about 3-4 inches wide. I wonder if, since the strakes are level, that maybe the bunks shoud sit directly under them.
Any thoughts?

I would just look at the bottom of the boat and set the bunks where the old ones hit the bottom
