Suffix 832

Been using Power Pro for years but recent positive reviews on Suffix 832 have me itching to give it a try. Where's the best place to buy in town (Tallahassee)?

The only place I have seen it is Kevin's. It is a little pricey but I like it so far. I have it on my Stradic Ci4 2500 and a I am getting ready to put it on the rest of my reels. I just wish they had a bigger filler spool and it was available in 15#,

Dick's Sporting goods is the only place I could find it in Dothan, I'm sure Tally must have one... I like it a LOT better than Pwr Pro.

Until the prices are comparable, I'm sticking with Power-pro. Still have yet to have a notable problem with it.



And the only place in town that I know that carries it, or has, is Kevin's. I'm all for supporting local business, but if you're looking for quantity, ask the guys there what they can do for you on price on a larger spool of it; otherwise, order online.

I use Power Pro because I am under the impression it is made in the USA and has continued to exceed my expectations. Where is Suffix made?

It's got a stand of gore fiber in it that makes it perform differently than power pro.. they claim it's the strongest and has the best castability and abrasion resistance of anything else on the market... I know I can cast a little further with it and I don't get the line wraps on the rod tip like I got with Power Pro and that's enough for me... It's worth the few bucks extra in cost in my opinion.

I have yet to try it, the next time mine needs respooling I plan to give it a go, as for cost, I think it cost about 2 gallons of gas more than Power Pro at today's prices, I guess the day I buy it I will just fish closer to the dock lol. I think I saw it at bass pro for 19.99 last week when i passed through Macon.

It's $19.99 for a 150 yard spool of 6 - 50 lb test at Bass Pro and Power Pro is $12.49 for a 100 yard spool of 5 - 50 lb test... So considering you get an extra 50 yards of Sufix, that's only a difference of $1.26 ...

BUT DON'T BUY ANY!!!!! I need the advantage.

The last I bought of power pro was 13 bucks + tax for 150 yards, never bought a 100 yard spool. Looked it up in Bass pro and they do sell the 100 yard spools for 12.99. Looked it up at walmart and it was the same price for 150 yards. I think I bought my last spool of 150 for this price at fisherman's paradise in Valdosta.

On another note, since the suffix has a core is it a little more stiff? Seems like this is the only complaint of power pro for me, if you get slack in the line, it will wrap on the rod tip. Will definitely be trying the suffix regardless.

There is no core in the 832. The numbers 832 refer to 8 strands (7 Dyneema and 1 Gore) with 32 pics(weaves) per inch. This makes the line rounder than those lines with only 16 pics per inch(PowerPro and others) resulting in a smother cast, quieter line retrieve and higher abrasion resistance. The Gore fiber is meant to repel water leaving the line drier coming back onto the spool.
The line is considerably more flexible than the Power Pro that I have been using. I have had only 1 wind knot and it pulled out without cutting the line. Knot strength is at least as good as PP. The zero stretch of braid is equal. The color of the 832 does not seem to fade as quickly as the PP.(not a big concern on my part, just something I noticed). There is no 1500 yard spool available for the 832, but there is a 600 yd spool available for around $80. That should be enough to fill 3 or 4 of my reels.
I will be asking the fine folks at Kevin's to order a 600 yd spool for me. If they are unable to do so , then I will order outside of our area. I like to give local merchants first crack at my business.
