Re: Redfish Tournament
OK , Here is my input. I like this format, the BBSWC has a smaller slot size limit on redfish 19-26" to protect anglers from bringing any under/over to the scales. As for the "KNOW IT ALL", I know I have forgot more than most people know, and forgotten most things I think I know

IFA Redfish tourCuttinAPath wrote:Why is it that there are only trout tournaments around here? I realize theres the redtrout and theres always a big red prize, but lets see a traditional 2 redfish tourny! Dont get me wrong I love to trout fish speciallly for the big'ns but lets get a 2 red tourny sometime.
Extreme Redfish Tournaments
HTC redfish tournaments
Above will cost you in excess of 200 bones to play
If you want a $20 backyard tourney - plenty to be had or you can create your own..you can probably find a CPR online tourney as well.
South Georgia Outdoors was wanting to do something at one time....I can ask and we can set something up for the fall, if anyone is interested.

Re: Redfish Tournament
I am very interested in a 2 red tourney. Although I know some of you dudes are hardcore and on the water a lot more than me. It ain't about winning as much as just fishing a tourney I have a slight chance to win. Me and mine target reds and trout are just bonus fish. We enjoyed the format of the Redtrout though and will fish it every year we are able (we were two pounds out, thanks to our puny trout). We have had days where our red and trout combo would be in the money (like the day pictured in my avatar), but a lot more days where our two reds would be in the money. It ain't reinventing the wheel though. If you are gonna start something like this, all those guys mentioned have a wealth of experience to help you. Just pick a date that does not conflict with others.
For the guys that target reds, it kinda sucks to be shooting for basically a side pot is what some of us feel. Not knocking ya'll tourneys. I don't fish bass tourneys either, although I can catch them when I have a mind to, I would basically have no chance.
Be warned, as retirement gets closer, I think we will start targetting the trout more, cause the tourneys are a blast around here and will run. Don't worry about me winning, just more money for your pots.

Re: Redfish Tournament
PS You do know that you will have to fish the 2 red tourney with the no cull rule in effect. How does one go about getting that exemption?

There are times when the NFGFC side pot for redfish pays more the rest of the tournament. The March tournament paid over $600.00. The Rocky's tournament paid $370.00 for the big red. The Redtrout paid $500.00 for the big red. So it's not like a side pot paying $20-30, just to be clear.

Re: Redfish Tournament
True. But that is for one red, not a two red stringer. You could catch a 2 man 14 pound limit though and still lose. Plus those pay out one place, right? Not knocking the format of those tourneys at all, I hope to get more chances to fish them next year. Would just really like to fish a 2 man red tourney on or near home waters. IFA is the big leagues and I am still in high school ball.

you just want to be able to see where people catch redfish....Jumptrout51 wrote:A ramp tourney with boundaries.Warrior wrote:Y'all give me some dates you would like to have a 2 Redfish Tourney I will start working on the Rules and entry fees.Do you want to fish anywhere or let's all play the the same field and launch at the same location.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
