Shipyard south of 98 on St. Marks?
is that what that is, a ship yard? It is off Old Plank Rd and appears to not have been used for quite a while. Also, what are the two sunken ships that are in the area? One north and one south?

OOOOOOOOOOld ship yard.

The roar of the engine, the morning air blowing on your face, the darkness is broken as the sun rises above the water revealing the silhouette of a lone bird in the water..........in front of the boat........standing.

Thought someone told me they built PT boats there during WWII. Chuck Shields at Shields Marina in St. Marks is very knowledgeable about the area. He'd be the one to know for certain.

It is a wooden hull. If you look close there is a no trespassing sign on the front of it.
We would pass by and wonder what the place was like in it's prime.
Don't have any information on the sunken boats.

Started talking about who use to own the old shipyards and it turned into a history lesson that started for an hour.

Ships and boats have been built up and down the St. Marks and Aucilla for years, until recent times.
Century ago these rivers were Main Street.

I can remember when there was a huge building there, but it was still abandoned then. THat was back in the day when we use to jump off the old Bridge tower roof into the river.
