Econofina 5/30/11
Went out early at low tide yesterday. Hadn't ever been out of there with the river that low....wow is all i can say. Better know what your doing going out of this place. Anyway, ran out to the first birdrack or tower south of the mouth of the river. Was a bit rough. Pinfish on a freeline only produced a couple of sharks. Caught a couple (2) trout and a couple of Rockbass. It was slow fishing at best. We moved back in closer to shore thinking maybe we'd find something in the 3-4 ft range but not much luck there, 1 short trout. My buddy wanted to hit some of the creeks for Redfish but no luck there either, couple of catfish
and a few ladyfish. Whats the story with the redfish? I haven't heard of anyone getting into the redfish like I thought they would. Ran into the FWC man at the ramp and he said he hadn't heard of anyone catching any reds either.
I don't know when I'm gonna catch my next fish but I know when I do it's gonna be awesome!

I think the trout have moved out in deeper water, at least that's where I've caught the few good ones I got this year. The seawater temp is already 86 deg. and a lot of fish like deeper water this time of year. Can't say about the reds, haven't caught any yet this year.

I have been finding Reds in all the usual places, just not as many as the past 2 years. Try the creek mouths and grass lines early (sunrise when the tides permit). Topwater, spoons and spinners seem to be the ticket right now.

Thanks for the input guys! Will apply those tips next time out. Might have to wait a while though....got snapper on the brain right now.

We been catching Reds 5 to 10 miles up river for the last month or so. The drought has reds, flounder, spanish and ladyfish all in the river "aint seen or heard about trout though"
