West Bay and East Bay on the 26th & 27th

Post by KyTrkyHntr »

Kim and I were down in Panama City Beach last week for a few days of R&R.... Since I didn't take the boat with me I booked a couple of trips with Capt. Snapp of Grassy Flats Charters. The weather was good except the wind was puffing both days solid.... Despite the windy conditions I had some really good days on the water. Thursday we covered West Bay and launched around 9 a.m. out of Burnt Mill Creek. Sight fishing was pretty much shutdown with all the cloud cover so we poled and drifted some key areas tossing Capt Joe's SS Minnow and a DOA Chughead. The bite didn't turn on till around 3, and I managed 2 nice Reds and a rat along with a few trout.

We move to a new flat and I hooked into a nice trout to end the day!! The DOA Chughead was the ticket!!

Friday we decided to go to East Bay and work some areas where Capt Snapp knew there were Trout. The weather called for calm conditions in the afternoon, but that never happened.... Steady wind puffing all day long... Well fighting the wind paid off. I landed my largest Trouts to date! It was a Trout kinda day and that's all we caught!! I had some reds blow up in the grass on the Chughead, but no connections... Great 2 days on the water! Can't wait to get back down there and do it again!!

Had the rods with me and only whipped out one for a couple of hours..... Wind was too hard to handle for me...

Good report and super good fish. First I have heard of a DOA Chughead. I will be checking them out soon.
