Mashes Sands 5/23/04

Post by wevans »

Left out of the ramp with just enuf light to see and headed out past bouy 26, started draging the strech 30, afteran hour and a half with no bite I decided ta drop another 30 over and double my chance of a strike  I have never had a double hookup while by myself, this soon changed :-D after 20 minutes or so the first drag starts screaming :o I let of the throttle and the other drag starts imatating the first :o :o so now I have to go into a fast idle to keep presure on the one rod while I fight with the other, I tighten the drag some :hammer: just to be able to make progress, after several minuts I see my prey, just in time for him to pull loose from the hook "with the tightened drag" :hammer: :hammer: It was a keeper Cobia and I had just lost him  reel on in, grab the second pole and throw the boat in Nuetral, hum, this fish is now pulling the boat backwards :o or am I hung on something :-? nope drag takes off one more time then he is wupped :-D I finnaly land my first Cobia, put him on the law stick and measure, and remesure, 32 1/2 inches and he will not strech a bit more :smt022 Realeased him and put some ice on my forarm, which feels like I just fought a monster AJ  start trolling again "with just ONE pole out" , it is now 8:30, the next fish caught is a barely keeper Gag at around 2:30 and I decided ta start trolling for the house and pick up another Gag 25" and a nice Spanish :lick: Off the water at 4:30, 10 hours of trolling, never turned the motor off, ran WOT out and back, and still only used 9 gallons of gas :-D I LOVE MY YAMMY :smt049 :smt023
