St. Marks - 5/22

Post by RodBow »

Couldn't bring myself to spend bait money to join floatilla so went to LH instead. On the water around 0715 and was surprised to see so few boats.

Son and I went farther out than I'ld been in the 12' StarCraft - all the way to the 1st tower. Fished basically between it and the next stake E.

First cast of the day - popping cork w/ Jerry shrimp - 20' Spannie. OoHoo!
Through the tide change, the very still hot air, and finally the breeze we caught 9 keeper trout, 5 blues (my first one ever), 2 SM, couple of DS, and the wierd fish in the quality pic - maybe a lizard fish? Also some I-don't-know-fish that kinda looked like little tarpon??

17 yr old caught all his on ChugBug after I had to give it up. Good day for Dad/son combo.

Regular fishin partner was surprised to see so many good fish.. and she was steamed that she didn't get to go. Guess I got to start thinking about a bigger boat...

Good job!
The fish in your first pic would be a remora aka shark sucker.

Good day fishing with your son!! Know you enjoyed it. Sounds like you had a slightly better catch than I did at Eco - good for you.
