Fished with my Dad today. We hit Jerry's at 7, then headed to the lighthouse. Our first stop was to load up the livewell with mud minnows. First cast of the cast net and I hooked one of the rods from in the boat and sent it in with the net, bad start to the day. With the livewell full enough and this behind us, we then made the run east of the lighthouse. First spot produced nothing but something huge breaking me off. We moved to the next spot and I caught a 17 inch trout on a mud minnow. Then, Father's Day came early. My Dad hooked up with a good red and had a tough fight with him but we finally got him into the net, fish measured 25 inches. Then, before I knew it, he was hooked up again, this time with a 21 inch red. We hung around this spot and caught 5 more puppy reds. We saw a blacktip that was about 6 feet cruising around the spot we were fishing. After that, the spot shut down for the most part as the tide fell out. I wanted to try to get my dad on a cobia and we had some live pins in the livewell. We made the run out and checked some of my spots but didn't have much success. We saw one small fish who I believe had a partner with him but he dove back down deep before we could get a shot on him. We ran to the hill and came home to eat fresh fish. Another good day, tight lines!
