Battery Suggestions

Post by yardman32317 »

Need to replace both 12 volt batteries on my G3 and am looking for suggestions as to what to buy.
The batteries are original to the boat and the previous owner purchased it in Dec 05, put a few hours on it and then it sat until now.
Have an older trolling motor with 40 lbs of thrust.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and sarcasim.

Go to the Battery Source and buy the biggest deep cycle marine battery you can. Also, buy a trickle charger and use it when not in use. You will not regret the purchase.

Just replaced two on my deep water boat after over four years use. They were Walmart marine batteries and had more than five hundred hours on them. I'm not a Walmart fan but replacements were the same spec. Found out that they are manufactured by Johnson Controls. Best news is that they were only $85 each.

I use the 27 series AC/Delco Voyager in my G3 and love em  I have had to use the second battery only a couple times in four years of use. I run everything on one battery with no problems. I do switch it from one battery to the other every few trips, just to make sure that one don't sit unused for to long  I get mine from Car Quest for less than $100 a peice

Sears Diehard Platinum series is supposedly the same as Hawker Odyssey...They are more expensive, but are very highly rated.

No, I had asked for GPS recommendations.
You made me have to stop and think about that for a minute :smt017 , something that is beginning to become routine!

Another vote for the Voyager battery.

Invest in an onboard charger. When you get home after every trip plug it in and forget it until you use the boat again. The batteries will last much longer. I used 2 GS27's for over 5 years in my bass boat.
What was I supposed to do today?

Heading to the Parts House in a few hours to get two new AC Delco Voyager batteries.
Won a battery tender at the BBF picnic so I'll be good there.
Again, thanks for all the suggestions from the crowd.
Makes a world of difference when you're new at this.
