Power has been knocked out for all of St. George Island.

More than 2,200 customers are without power following a violent storm, said Suzanne Grant, spokesman Progess Energy.

NWS received reports last night that a water spout that appeared in the bay between the St. George and Eastpoint knocked out an electric pole.

Weather permitting, Progress Energy will install generators on the island, restoring power by this evening. Replacement of the poles, however, will take several days. Both projects are contingent on weather.

Progress Energy is asking that customers turn all light switches and air conditioning units off until power is restored. Anyone with questions should call the outage hotline at 1-800-228-8485.

JT could fix it with some duct tape, inkpen and chewing gum for a case of cold coor's light and a pack of gulp shrimp.
