Carrabelle 7/6

Post by onefishtwofish »

Have not been posting any reports, cause things have been slow for us, not terrible, just not any real good days.

Left out of Carrabelle River today and headed east to Lanark area (much closer to Lanark). We had found some ladyfish on Sat and left them pretty quick, but went back this morning to get a few for cutbait to shark fish. We caught a couple but the trout were mixed in with them. For the rest of the morning we had steady action with ladyfish, but there were enough trout to keep us having fun. made two moves with similar results. Lots and lots of 13-14.75" trout. We did catch at least a 2 man limit of keepers during the day, but we were not keeping. We got to watch some tarpon, but none would eat plug or artifical. We had one excitement as the pinfish bait alarm was singing, after we had just seen a poon, but it was a shark.

All trout were caught on Nuclear Chicken color in 4-6 feet mixed bottom. We tossed lots of other colors, but they wanted the Nuclear chicken. The ladyfish wanted something moving!

We did get into what we call Sand trout, but I don't know if they were Sand or Gulf trout, as they were pretty decent size (14-18") and I think of Sandies as little. They were more silver than straw colored, and not a spot to be seen.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Sounds like a decent day. Not to harass you or anything, but what direction from the Lanark landing did you see the tarpon (althought I know you didn't put in there). I'm might try and go tarpon fishing! thanks.
