A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
I fished upside down for years before I realized my folly .Always caught plenty of fish to. One day the science of it all just dawned on me and next thing you know I was fishin right side up. Can't say that it made me catch more or less fish, but I just figured it was the way they were designed to swim through the water.
Fish Masterson
Ty, I read an artical in FS about using circle hooks rigged similar to the way you do.....I rig mine with a light wire 4/0 - 5/0 texas rigged. I used to use a 2/0-3/0 and was missing fish, switched to a bigger hook and greatly improved hook ups.
I haven't fished them much lately, gotten kinda hung up on hard stick baits and beetle spins.
I hook'em the same way you had pictured but I use a Kale style hook. It is almost like a circle and every fish I've caught so far has been hooked right in the lip just like the circles.
On the question of what shape float to use on the CT, I like the cigar shape when I am casting into any wind. It is more streamlined and casts better into the wind.
I like the cigar for everything except for pinfish and the heavier Tsunami soft plastics, then I use the oval. The Tusnami are heavier than a 1/8oz jig head and grub and the cigar CT ends up to far in the water.
