last day of the 2011 snapper season - panama city

Post by Breambuster »

Dave, Calvin and I went out on a partyboat in Panama City for the last day of the 2011 snapper season. I’ll let the pictures tell the story.

It’s a long 3hr boat ride. Are we there yet, are we there yet…….

In between tangles and fighting with porpoise, we managed to catch our fish. We were 2 snappers from limiting out on the 2nd spot and after about 15 minutes of fishing.

When you see Dave really concentrating on working a fish, you know he got something decent.

Yep, it’s the best fish of the day.

Love the action on that Travella rod

Calvin caught his limit of snapper and then preceed to fill the limit for the next 4 customers

He then put a hurting on them vermillion snapper (aka beeliner), catching about 2 dozens of them.

In addition to the great fishing, the galley lady can cook up a killer burger.

The entire boat limited out on snapper (a few with our help)

The entire catch in a 120 Qt cooler

Well, another memorable season despite we were only able to make one trip out of it. What a crying shame.

Awesome post. As usual. I have never been on a party boat. How much is it per person? And how do you pick good one to go on?

We had a great trip, and even though it was a party boat (I have my issues with tolerance) I had a great time!

We paid $95 per person for the Capt Anderson 12 hr trip. As far as picking a boat, you just have to try it out as each boat is different but generally the longer trips are be more productive. If you're interested, we could plan a trip together if they re-open the snapper season again later this year.

Do you have to have your own gear or is it just a good idea?
