Want a hand held GPS

Just needing a hand held GPS. Don't want to have to wire anything up.

I just concluded a bunch of my own research on these and within the last two months purchased the Garmin GPSMAP 62sc. It will accept datacards to provide additional detail and has the external antennae which I considered a plus. My use of it so far has been good. I like the functionality of it. It seems really straight forward to us. I have fixed mount GPSs on two different boats (one Lowrance and one RayMarine) and I basically did no reading on the instructions for the handheld but just took off using it -- really easy to use. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the info. I would be willing to go to a fixed GPS if the price was right but I guess I was just looking for the convinience of a hand held. That's good to know that your hand held is serving you well, so that does answer on of my concerns about a hand held. What kind of battery life do you get out of yours?

I love my Garmin Colorado 400i. Got to "Getfeetwet.com" and you'll find some deals. Usually 2 days fishing out of 2 AA batteries
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

I just got the Garmin GPSmap 76CX a few months ago on sale $75 off at west marine. It works great for me. I've taken it out 4 different trips and battery power is still showing almost full. Also the screen is surprisingly easy to see in the sunlight. Pretty user friendly, waterproof and floats (allegedly, I'm not planning on testing it out.) Overall I am satisfied with it.
