Motor Guide Trolling Motor Issues

Post by Rainmaker »

To All:

I am new to the forum as well as fishing the flats. Recently bought a used boat and getting the kids out on the water. The boat is a 2005 Skeeter with a Motor Guide 82lb Great White. I was fishing the St. Marks area last weekend (man it was hot) and after running the trolling motor for an hour or so, it just quit. I check the fuses, all visually looked good and not blown. Got home and made sure the batteries were good, trolling motor still not working. Anyone with any thoughts on the matter?

Check the battery connections. If needed clean the contacts with a wire brush or emery cloth. Apply a good corrosion preventative and then tighten them with pliers or a wrench. Finger tight usually won't be enough in the long run.

Thanks Guys. I have ordered a new housing due to the fact that the old one was very brittle and busted. When it comes in, I will put it together and, clean battery connections and see what happens.
