6am high tide

Post by fishinfool »

Got out and found some fish.
This is how my day started,

I was working a grass line and came around a bend to meet up with a fellow angler. Seemed like a nice enough fellow. He had just released an 18" red that was caught on a gulp shrimp. He said I could have the spot as he was heading elsewhere. I worked past where he was fishing and hooked up with this 25" specimen,

I was fortunate enough to be able to share the outdoors with some natives,

After a short while I packed up and headed top my favorite spot. I had almost given up that there was to be no payoff, when I decided to cast across a grass point to some flowing water. Mr. Red Fish ate my spoon and almost like following a script, swam away from the grass and toward the boat. Upon seeing the boat he realized he was hooked and the fight was on. Although he was only 24" he thought and fought like he was much bigger.

As the tide was rapidly leaving me with little water to maneuver in, I decided to go out to the buoy line to try for a Trout. After a short time I was rewarded with this 17" scrapper,

I lost his brother at the boat a little later and released his 12" nephew. There was the standard lady fish and of course the top water Sailcat, (that still baffles me).
The reds were caught on Aqua Dream spoons, the Trout on Gulp shrimp on jigs. Had one Red blow up on top and that was it.
All fish were released to fight another day. When the freezer supply gets low I will start keeping a few again.
Home by 1:30. Another great day on the water.

Nice day, FFool. Always fun when a plan comes together.

What shade of ADL spoons were you throwing? Mike sent me some of his new gold ones that I need to try, but the pink is still my old-time favorite.

That gator was riding high in the water, must have been looking for lunch.
