Decent day

Post by onefishtwofish »

We decided today was a keeper day. All three of us wanted some fish and we started off putting them in the box right off the bat. Got to the creek kinda later, but were fishing by 7:45. Caught a few trout right off the bat and then caught fish here and there the rest of the morning. Tide went slack and the fishing died and we fished another hour once it started moving. Picked up a couple more keepers and called it a day. Kept: 1 Nice Spanish, 5 trout (one 22"), 2 reds and one 15" flounder. We saw more baitifsh on the flats and in the creek mouth than I hae seen in the last couple of months. Lots of bait everywhere we fished. If we would have had scrimps, I believe we could have worked them over in one spot. All artificials.

It is getting to be "that time of year" for the bait congregations. The predator fish have to start fattening up for winter.

Ecky on Thursday, five nice trout, lost one large trout at the boat and one nice red at the boat. Net in the wrong place at the wrong time. Enjoyed being on the water, was not unbearable. Water was stained looking. Going again as soon as I can. Keep those reports coming, that is helpful and encouraging. Missed all the rocks that moved the night before and that was good.

Good deal Day. We went back this afternoon and braved the wind. One flattie, but he is in the fridge to be stuffed at a time to be named later.
